The story behind Steak and a Bible

At an Orlando area Chili's eating steak after church.

If you just stumbled across this site, you are probably scratching your head trying to figure out why I would call my website Steak and a Bible. Well, here’s how this all came about. Last weekend I was on vacation in Florida, for a lindy exchange. I was staying with a couple of other lovely Christian women and after two long nights and one long night of dancing, we were all exhausted. To top it off I hadn’t eaten much during that time either. And I’m not proud to say that when I am sleep deprived and proteindeprived I get cranky. So on Sunday morning when we were all getting ready to visit a church service, I was not in a good mood. I explained that when I’m dancing for hours upon hours and haven’t been able to eat meat (or some other high protein food) I get this way. I suggested that I needed God to fix my attitude and I really needed to go eat some meat, preferably a steak. One of the ladies I was with chuckled and said, “So you need steak and a Bible …” Precisely.

That is how Steak and a Bible was born.

Although I may post an occasional recipe, or talk about steaks and other delicious food, my primary intention with this website is to focus on Jesus Christ, the Bible and the Christian faith. I also plan to write about things churches can do right, the things some churches, preachers and “Christian” authors are doing wrong and to generally discuss current faith-related issues from a Biblical worldview.  I had already planned to start such a site, and now that my friend brilliantly came up with a name for it that suits me so well, it is time to get started. I hope that if you are already a believer in Jesus you will be edified, encouraged and challenged by my thoughts. I pray that if you are not a Christian that God would draw you unto himself as it says in John 6:44 “No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.”
